Guys with wall developed gut muscles tend to take punches better but no matter how well developed a punch to the gut can be sickening apart from taking your breath as I have found out the hard way.Very good punch against tall thin guys, can be Koed this way

that would be a good question for james toney

It depends on how ripped the abs are or how much fat does the belly has.If you have rock hard abs,you will feel less pain,if u have alot of belly fat, those punches u take in the belly won’t reach the internal organs.

maybe you’re right about the chubby guys, Jimmy Young could take body shots all day and one word that did NOT describe Jimmy was ripped.

Depends on what’s under the belly fat. If you exercise and get ripped, strong abs and then pile on a lot of weight, your abs won’t (of course) get any weaker, will they? They will just get an extra layer of insulation on top of them, and be even more able to withstand punishment. Of course, you’ll be heavier and thus slower and get hit more… but strong abs + fat is the best in this case, plain strong and ripped abs in second place and good ol’ belly fat the least desirable.

Ripped abs,no.Well developed abs yes. It’s still very difficult to defend against a liver shot if delivered at the proper angle though.Floating ribs are the same way.Keeping your elbows close to the body and NEVER dropping your hands to defend against a body blow are your best defense. Many people tend to drop their right hand a little to defend against a liver shot.If the fighter intends a second follow up left hook chances are he’s going to nail you in the jaw. Many of the guys with ripped abs just look strong due to lack of body fat. Most of them also have tiny waists(as I do). What was I supposed to do?(1).Is that the symbol I was supposed to use?Anyway, the look of the abs has nothing to do with it.
