Flat Stomach Exercise

Enrico Medina asked:

A good stomach workout targets the different muscles in your stomach and does not just focus on one. You probably heard some of your friends mention they do around 500 sit-ups per day and brag about it. I’m telling you know that the workout I will be designing below is a hundred times better than doing one exercise hundreds of times.

Our stomach is not just one piece of muscle. It is divided into several parts which should be taken into consideration when designing focused stomach exercises.

1) Leg Raises

- Leg raises target your lower abdominal muscles which are probably the hardest to develop so make sure you make extra effort when and dedication when you perform them. Lie on your back with your legs extended and your arms on the side of your body. Slowly raise your legs a few inches off the floor while keeping them straight. Hold that position for about 10 seconds and bring it down again. Do about 10 repetitions and move on the next exercise.

2) Double Crunches

- Normal crunches are not too bad but with double crunches, you contract your muscles even more, resulting in more work done. Like on your back and put your hands behind your head. Slowly bring your upper body towards your knees and at the same bring your knees towards your knees, resulting in your stomach being contracted in both directions. Try to do 10 of these and move on the next exercise.

3) Ab Rollers

- This one requires a tool. Just find something that rolls well. I usually recommend a rounded dumbbell that rolls easily. You can find ab rollers in the market easily if you want to get the actual thing. To do the exercise, assume the push-up position, placing both your hands on the dumbbell or ab roller. Support this position by standing just on your toes. Now try to roll the dumbbell towards your stomach, resulting in your body arching a bit. Pause for a few moments then roll back to the original position. This exercise is extremely hard to do but rewards you with a good flat stomach. I recommend doing just five of these and move on to the next.

4) Crunches from side to side

- These will target your oblique muscles which are most often forgotten by most people to train. Assume a sit-up position putting your hands behind your head. Slowly bring your body upward but instead of bringing it straight up, make your left elbow touch your right knee then go back to your starting position. Do the same for your right elbow and your left knee. Do this exercise for 10 counts.

Having done all the exercises for one round, repeat all the exercises for 3 rounds, making sure to stop only after you have finished all four exercises. Do not stop after each exercise like most workouts. Make sure you do all four workouts continuously. This will exhaust your stomach easily resulting in more work done compared to doing 500-1000 sit-ups per day.

5 Unique Strategies For a Flat Stomach

Gergana Ganeva asked:

n get the sexy stomach you have been dreaming about without even a crunch. Probably you are asking yourself “how could this possibly happen? I must do crunches in order to get a flat stomach.” Wrong! There are 5 central strategies that will make your stomach lean and flat.

1- STOP being obsessed with crunches

Your abs are not made to flex which is what they do when you do crunches, so basically they are useless. Your abs are made to stabilize your entire body while walking, running, sitting down, and therefore they should be trained as such. Even when you do lunges (which are great lower body exercises) your abs are working to stabilize you. For example if you put your hands over your head while doing lunges you would realize that you could lunge even better. What does this tell us? It tells us that during all these standing types of movements, pushup positions or similar movements, your abs are definitely working the entire time to make sure that your body is stabilized in the specific position. Therefore these are the main exercises you should be doing but not the basic crunch.

2 – Work on the principle of muscle overload

What do I mean by that? I mean that if you are lifting weights or doing body weight exercises and you feel like you can do 25-35 raps at once with the same weight then your muscles are not working hard enough. You should be definitely struggling a little bit with your weight training at the end of each set. With another words, add some more weight. If you are used to hold 5 pound (2.2 kg) dumbbells every time you are doing presses and you can do 20 or 30 raps without breaking a sweat, then you would never be able to build lean muscles. What you need to do is to consistently and constantly add weight to your routine. For example if you are doing pushups and they get too easy, then you have to make sure that you make it harder on yourself. One method of making it harder while doing pushups is to put your feet on a bench; this would make the pushups definitely more challenging. You should never let your routine get too easy, but if it does, then you have to make it more difficult right away.

3- Cardio training needs to be challenging as well

Interval training is one way to do your cardio more challenging. I am sure that everyone has seen people in the gym walking on the treadmill with 3 miles per hour or so and at the same time watching a show on the TV. This is a perfect example of what you should not be doing if you want to experience any positive changes. You need to do interval training where you vary the challenge of your cardiovascular routine. Running intense for 2 minutes, walking for 1 minute and going back and forth is a great way to increase your heart pulse and sweat a lot.

4- Your diet is really where the abs are made

You MUST watch your diet; you MUST watch what you eat. I am not a big fan of counting calories although I tried a few times in the past and trust me, it did not work out very well. My tip to you is to count ingredients. Look at the ingredients on the food label, it can be even better if the food does not have any label (like fresh fruits and vegetables), then you know for sure that what you eat is healthy and you should not worry about any calories or fats. If it is a boxed food maybe you are in a bit of trouble because the food is usually processed with a lot of junk in there. Try to eat food with as fewer ingredients as possible.

5- Get a support community

My fifth tip to you is to get a support community. If you feel like it is very hard to do all this by yourself, you should consider joining a team, a class, a blog, a forum online, or simply find a workout partner. The most important is that you find a positive person with the same or similar interest. Trust me, you can go far if you have somebody next to you who would encourage you and cheer you every time you try to give up.

Now what you need to do is to take these 5 essential tips and implement them in order to start seeing results and enjoying your flat stomach.

Stomach Exercises For The Soul

Sharron Nixon asked:

Stomach exercises are great because the stomach is one troublesome spot that, when you begin to lose the weight , will appear much more toned and flatter within a very short time. If you want to tone your abs or get ripped, remember that stomach exercises are only part of the solution.

Exercises for the stomach like sit-ups can be done daily or at every workout session. Abdominal exercises are some of the easiest you can perform, not only because they target a portion of the body often missed by other traditional exercises, but because you can perform these exercises so often.

Strengthening exercises for the stomach, should always be followed by a full range of stretches designed to lengthen and tone the muscles. The best abdominal exercises are those that combine aerobic exercise with spot training, but it is a myth that abdominal exercises are all you need to have a flat stomach.

There are four abdominal muscles that form a multi-layered multi- directional girdle around the trunk or core of the body. When doing your stomach exercises concentrate on your obliques, the stomach muscles that run up the side of your stomach and around to your back. These are exercises usually involving a twisting crunch. In this way you’ll exercise your central abdominal or core area for ‘free’ as you go.

The stomach is always a problem area and unfortunately exercises for a particular area don’t result in weight loss from that specific area. For best results with stomach exercises, remember to eat a healthy diet and perform aerobic exercise 3 times a week as well as doing your in addition to abdominal exercises.

The abdominals are some of the most resilient muscles in the body, which makes abdominal exercises one of the few workouts that can be practiced daily without injury to the body. Because of the resilience of abs, a dedicated person can do stomach exercises daily, helping them see results far more quickly than is possible with many other areas of the body. Abdominal exercises, if practiced religiously, can provide rapid and easily seen results, which is greatly encouraging for you.

One of the best things about stomach exercises is that many, if not all of them, can be done at home. Equipment such as crunch machines, specialized crunch benches, and medicine balls can all enhance the abdominal exercises you do in your own home.

Don’t make the mistake of doing hundreds of repetitions of stomach exercises in the hope of getting a flat stomach. Only when your body fat has lowered sufficiently, can your abdominal muscles become tight and visible.

recent study showed that the classic sit-up is not the best exercise for stronger, flatter stomachs. The best abdominal muscles in the world may be hidden by a stubborn layer of body fat. This is because we are all of different body types. Some people store fat more readily in the hips, buttocks, and thighs, others store fat excess in the arms and upper back and still others store their fat in the stomach and waist area.

There is no way around it: if you want that trim, defined torso that is so sought after, you are going to have to do stomach exercises. This is where you need a routine consisting of exercise for lower abdominal muscles. Such a routine helps you define and sculpt the lower abdominals, giving you that chiselled look.

Your Abs Routines Need Different Stomach Exercises

Terry Sandhu asked:

are many stomach exercises that can be include in your abs routines. Often people will pick 1 or 2, and stick with them. While this can be pretty effective, it may not be enough to give you that all round core workout.

There is something about having that flat chiselled 6 pack, that fires the imagination. Ab muscles do not only look great, they also improve the general look of your upper body. Another major benefit of strong core muscles is the other health positives that are provided.

Most people perform stomach exercises mainly for cosmetic reasons, but there is a far more important reason for having a flat and strong stomach. Your stomach area is the core part of your body. The core is the place that everything else comes from. There are vital internal organs behind your stomach wall, and they need protection.

Not only are your internal organs protected by a strong stomach, they are also firmly held in place. When your stomach area is covered in fat, your stomach will push forward due to the excessive weight of the stomach. This can often result in your organs not getting the protection that they need, along with a chance of some of them being slightly dislodged. This is why you should include a variety of stomach exercises in your abs routines, so that you are targeting your core area from every angle possible.

No mtter what stomach exercise you choose, it will only be effective if you do it on a consistent level. Even the best abs workout or ab machine is going to be useless, unless you are prepared to do it on a consistent basis. Another thing to consider is the ab exercise machines that you can buy these days. While some ab machines can be effective, you don’t really need them to get the 6 pack that you want. There are plenty of abs routines that will give you the results that you desire. Regardless of which exercises you do for your stomach, you will still have to put the work in. There are no shortcuts.

You will want to pick exercises that target your oblique’s, the lower, middle, and upper sections of your abs, and let’s not forget your lower back. each area is a sum of the whole, so hitting the whole from every angle will give you great all round development. A strong core will also provide lots of health benefits.

There are many exercises that you can do as part of your abs routines, here are just a few.

Crunches
Weighted Crunches
Side Crunches
Leg Lifts
Weighted Front Squats
Plank
Side Plank
Sit Ups
Side Bends
Bar Twists
Leg Raises

These are just a few core exercises that you can do as part of your abs workouts. Try to find out what is goint to suit you. There may be a bit of trial and error involved, but it will be time well spent. The more angles that you hit your stomach, the better it will look.

Another thing to remember is that regardless of how hard you exercise your stomach, your abs will only become visible if you lose the fat that covers them. This will mean making changes to your diet, along with picking the best stomach exercises as part of your abs routines

How to Get a Flat Stomach Fast – 3 Easy Steps That Work

G. B. Wiley asked:

There are many reasons why you may want to know how to get a flat stomach fast. Perhaps you have an upcoming holiday and want to hit the beach in style. Maybe you are getting married and want to look your best for the big day. Maybe you are worried about the health issues of being overweight. It doesn’t matter why, here are 3 simple steps on how to get a flat stomach fast that you can start TODAY.

How To Get A Flat Stomach Fast Step 1: What You Eat

As I am sure you know, getting your diet right is vital to getting rid of stomach fat. Whilst there are many complicated diet programs out there, you can improve your diet without becoming a nutrition expert. Some simple changes you can make today are switching from white bread to whole meal. The same goes for white pasta and rice, switch to the brown whole grain versions. The white versions of these foods are over refined to the point they have lost most of their nutritional value and are pure carbohydrate. The brown versions are less refined and contain complex carbohydrates which offer more nutrition and keep you feeling fuller longer.

Snacking is one area many people pile on the pounds, so what you snack upon can make a difference. If you feel the need for a snack, go for some fruit instead of potato chips, chocolate and pastries.

Another aspect of your diet that affects how to get a flat stomach fast is portion sizes. Many of us don’t know what is meant by the portion sizes stated in recipes, and end up eating more than we should. A portion of pasta or rice is usually a cupful. A medium potato should be about the size of a computer mouse, and a potion of meat is about the size of a deck of cards.

How To Get A Flat Stomach Fast Step 2: When You Eat

The timing of your meals throughout the day can also help in getting rid of stomach fat. Most of us eat 3 – 4 large meals a day. This results in long gaps between meals which causes our metabolism to slow down and burn calories much slower. By breaking your daily food intake into 6 meals you will be giving your metabolism a kick-start each time. This will keep your body burning calories at an optimum rate.

How To Get A Flat Stomach Fast Step 3: Start Some Exercises

Some exercises for belly fat are going to be necessary to lose fat quickly. The best type of exercise for this is cardiovascular. Cardio exercise is any activity that gets your whole body moving and your heart rate beating faster. To get the full benefit from this you need to keep it up for at least 30 minutes, and do it for 5 days a week. The single best type of cardio exercise is jogging, as this will burn 400 calories per 30 minute session.

Flat Stomach Exercises

Jennifer Jolan asked:

Would you like a flat stomach exercise or 2 that you can do at home quickly? If so, I’m going to share with you a couple of the best exercises for a flat stomach that you can do in the privacy of your home. You DON’T NEED to go to a gym to get rid of belly fat. You can effectively reduce your waist size at home in a shorter amount of time than you can going to a gym and using all that fancy equipment.

1. Use an ab wheel

Back in the 1990′s these were popular. Surprisingly, it’s 1 of the few “abs gadgets” that actually worked. It’s strange that this has lost some of it’s popularity because it was extremely effective at toning your abs and flattening your belly. Obviously you’ll have to go to someplace like Wal-Mart or a sporting goods store to buy one of these things. Or you can try the Amazon website. They generally cost around $12 or so.

Once you have it, get on your knees or toes and grab the handles while your chest is over the ab wheel. Basically, you’re in push-up position. Now slowly roll it out in front of you focusing the tension on your abs. Once you’ve gone far enough away from your body, roll it back in to the starting position.

You will only need to do 3 sets of as many as possible every other day to start seeing results with this.

2. Sucking in your lower belly and holding it

This exercise is more commonly known as the vacuum pose. It was made popular by that California Governor guy… Arnold (long last name that’s hard to spell). He used it to lose inches from his waist while he was a bodybuilder.

For women, don’t worry.

This exercise allows you to lose a few inches without looking anything like a guy or a bodybuilder. The key to this working is the immense amount of isometric tension that’s created within the abdominal wall cavity. Basically, you’re tightening it up which brings it in further (while improving your posture).

You can realistically lose 2-3 inches from your waist in a month doing this for 5-20 minutes a day. You can do these sitting, lying down, or how I prefer… standing up. I like to do these during commercials so I can free up time for myself. The main flat stomach exercise is the vacuum pose listed in number 2. However, both are great exercises for a flat stomach.
