How to Get a Flat Stomach

flat stomach exercises
Tom Smith asked:

Getting a flat stomach isn’t easy, but it’s certainly something worth working for. There’s nothing sexier than a flat stomach. Whether you’re a man or a woman, your attractability will skyrocket once you have a flat stomach.

In order to get the flat stomach you’ve always wanted, you have to take simultaneous action in a number of routes:

Stomach exercises – Invest some time and effort in stomach focused exercises, but make sure not to get stuck in low or medium intensity exercises. There’s no point in doing hundreds of crunches. There are other exercises which will leave you panting for air in under a minute.

If you want to get a flat stomach in one month it is essential that you do not do so at the expense of your health. It can be unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week and also very difficult, so do not push yourself too hard if achieving a flat stomach quickly is not realistic for your body. The fastest way to a flat stomach should be achieved with the help of a guide with proper nutrition and exercise methods.

Choosing a Cardio Exercise for a Flat Stomach

Many people try to find the “best” cardio exercise, but in fact there is no “best” here that applies to all. Cardio exercises include running, rope-jumping, swimming, cycling, jogging, and even activities like tae-bo and aerobics. They all work in getting your metabolic rate up, and the choice will be based on what it feels good for you!

It has actually been shown that the best exercise for getting a flat stomach is jogging. Jogging or any other cardio exercise will help burn the fat all over your body including your stomach area.

If you’ve only been doing crunches or other stomach exercises and not seeing any significant results, it is probably because you need to lose the weight first. You can’t tone fat – you have to get rid of it.

What about food?

Of course, the fat didn’t get on your stomach of its own. Your lifestyle helped put it there. The most important factor is the food that you eat. If you don’t learn healthy eating habits, you will never be able to get a flat, tight belly. Even if you workout extremely hard but eat poorly, you will not lose fat.

Eating right isn’t complicated. Just give up fast and junk food for starters. Turn away from pre-made dishes and go for fresh and home cooked meals as much as possible, and stay away from fattening snacks and candy.

Finally maintain your weight by avoiding food that tends to accumulate near your belly. Losing tummy fat can be quick, if you follow the right eating habits and a healthy routine.

Quick and Sustained weight loss is a combination of external and internal factors. The external factors of exercise and diet are of course helpful to lose weight. But you need to equally focus on internal factors of boosting your metabolism and keep yourself motivated to loose weight.

The Stomach Exercise All-stars

flat stomach exercises
Andri Irawan asked:

There are plenty of stomach exercises out the for those who want to shape their core and strengthen their midsection. This may be both a blessing and a curse. It is easy to find plenty of exercises and routines that work the midsection, but how does one know which ones are any good? Well, listed here are what appear to be some of the best around, according to recommendations by fitness experts. If you want to work on your stomach, but are not sure where to start, then this “all-star team” may be a good jumping off point. As with any workout routine, be sure to consult a professional before beginning and always warm up properly to avoid injury.

Crunchless Crunch

Regular crunches are great for working the rectus abdominus (the muscles at the front of your stomach), but they do very little for the transverse abdominal muscles deeper in the midsection, plus they tend to put strain on your back and neck. This first exercise corrects that, working the transverse muscles with no back or neck strain. Essentially, it involves trying to pull the belly button in towards the spine. This can be tricky, as it involves using muscles which you may not be used to activating. To start, either lie or on your stomach or kneel. You might want to try both ways and see which helps you feel the exercise better. Relax your body as much as possible, then try to use only the lower abdominals to move your belly button toward your spine. Hold for ten seconds. If holding for ten seconds feels easy, hold for a longer period. The goal is to hold the contraction until you either cannot feel it, or you feel other muscles working harder than the transverse abdominus. When you feel this, let the contraction out.

Hip Lift

Remain on your back for this stomach exercise. Put your arms at your sides with palms facing up to the ceiling. Put your legs straight up in the air so that the soles of your feet are facing the ceiling and your legs make about a ninety degree angle with your torso. Keep your knees unbent and as straight as possible. Now, contract your ab muscles so that it feels like your belly button is being pulled toward your spine, while at the same time gently lifting your hips off the floor. Raise your hips to height of a few inches, keeping your legs extended straight upward. Hold this position, then slowly lower your hips back to the floor. Repeat for an entire set.

Long Arm Crunch

For this stomach exercise, remain on the floor with your knees bent and feet flat. Lie back and extend your arms straight back on the floor as though you are reaching above your head. Contract your abs and slowly lift your arms, head and shoulders off the floor to about a thirty degree angle. Hold it, then slowly lower your shoulders back to the floor. Repeat for an entire set. Be careful not to lead with your arms, keeping them straight and alongside your head.

Some other honorable mentions include the vertical leg crunch, torso twists, and any Pilates routine that emphasizes the core. Feel free to research some of these exercises more once you have mastered the three above. Now that you are armed with some of the better stomach exercises, you are on your way to a trimmer tummy!

5 Flat Stomach Tips To Help You Lose Belly Fat Fast

flat stomach exercises
Charles A. Inniss, Jr. DPT asked:

One of the most popular fitness goals is to lose weight and get a flat stomach.  This article shares 5 things you should do if you want to get a flat stomach.

The first thing you should do if you want to lose body fat and firm your stomach is eat a healthy breakfast.  Breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it can set up your body to burn fat throughout the entire day.  Your body needs nutrients to burn fat, so by eating a healthy and nutritious breakfast you are setting up your body to be efficient throughout the day.

The second thing you must do to have a healthy metabolism is drink plenty of water.  Every metabolic process in your body uses water.  Most people are chronically dehydrated, and without adequate hydration levels your body cannot burn body fat at maximum efficiency.  Another benefit of drinking more water is less calories from other beverages.  By replacing sugar laden drinks with water, you can decrease the negative impact of sugar, calories, and chemicals and increase the positive effect of consuming more water.

The third flat stomach tip is to include cardiovascular or aerobic exercise in your fitness routine.  Cardio burns tons of calories and if you want to get a flat stomach you should do a minimum of 30 minutes of aerobic exercises 3 times a week.  Walking is a great form of aerobic exercise, and it’s a great place to start for someone beginning an exercise program.

The fourth tip to get a flat stomach is to include some weight training in your weekly fitness routine.  Weight training has different benefits when compared to aerobic exercise.  Even light weight lifting can increase your metabolism for hours after you’ve stopped exercising.  In addition, weight training can also help your body become more sensitive to insulin.  When your body becomes more sensitive to insulin, you digest and process sugar and carbohydrates more efficiently which is helpful in losing weight and maintaining weight loss.

As both men and women age, they lose lean muscle tissue, and this slows down the metabolism and can cause weight gain, especially around the mid-section.  By weight training on a regular basis a minimum of 2 times per week, you can add lean tissue to tone your muscles, build your muscles, and speed up your metabolism.

The fifth tip to help you get a flat stomach is to get a full night of sleep.  There have been multiple studies about a lack of sleep and the stress hormone cortisol.  Elevated cortisol levels can cause your body to hold onto unwanted belly fat and make it difficult lose excess stomach fat.  Getting a full night’s sleep gives your body time to recover from the stressors of everyday life and will improve your chances at making weight loss progress.

The 5 tips are simple, but they can make a big impact and help you live a healthier life.  If you want to get a flat stomach try to eat a healthy breakfast, drink plenty of water, perform aerobic exercise and weight training on a regular basis, and get plenty of sleep.

Body Solid Exm1500s Stomach Exercises

flat stomach exercises
gardeningm asked:

people I know are dieting. Some of them are actually pretty extreme about it. They will starve themselves, cutting their calories down by a thousand a day, and yet they will not put in the effort to exercise. It seems like a strange paradox to me. There are all these people out there who are willing to cut out food almost entirely, yet they do not have the discipline to make it to the gym a couple times a week! If they would just get out and do some stomach exercises, they would have it made.

Of course, stomach muscle exercises by themselves won\’t make you lose weight, but they will help redistribute body fat. Most of the people who are unhappy with their weight are particularly unhappy with the way their stomach looks. Belly fat is universally seen as unattractive in our society, and doing a flat stomach exercise is is one of the best ways to address it. After all, everyone wants lean, toned stomach muscles, don\’t they? I know that I sure do!

Of course, stomach exercises are not the most important part of your workout routine. Don\’t get me wrong – exercises for your stomach are really crucial for losing weight. They will not only decrease your belly fat, but they will also provide more support for your spine. Stomach exercises tend to reduce back problems, by creating a more upright posture. Nevertheless, cardiovascular workout exercises are even more important. If you do not do some fast walking, swimming, or some other kind of cardio workout, there is no way you will ever be healthy. Although you may lose weight, it will be difficult to keep it off because your metabolism will not be fast enough. The stomach exercises can make you look lean and trim, but the cardio is what makes you healthy.

Although I love to go to the gym, I used to not have the time to. I would have to do my stomach exercises, along with my cardiovascular workout, at home. At first it seemed a little difficult, but there are all kinds of ab machines that you can get to make the job easier. They can make crunches and situps much easier on your back, and help you to get more effect from each exercise. Although they are not necessary for stomach exercises, they are pretty affordable and seem to really help. I don\’t know what doctors think about them, but I highly recommend them from experience.
